Why dogs are better than people!
We all have special people in our lives and people who don’t love dogs will not understand this blog at all. Because unless you have loved and been loved by a dog, you just won’t understand.
Love & Loyalty
Dogs will love their humans without judgement. They don’t care what car you drive, what job you do, how much money you earn. They don’t care if your “meat suit” is perfect nor do they care if you have made past mistakes.
Their love is constant, pure and unwavering.
For many people, this can feel much more reliable than human relationships.
Non-Judgmental Love
Dogs don’t criticise, nor do they bait you to argue. They don’t criticise your driving or tell you when you have bad breath. Dogs are always there to listen and provide a safe space where people can always be themselves without fear of judgement.
Emotional Support & Comfort
Dogs are super clued into our emotions and seem to know when we’re having a bad day. They provide comfort during tough times, helping to reduce stress, depression, anxiety and loneliness in a way that even close friends or family may not always be able to do.
Always present and Dependable
Despite human relationships ever changing and sometimes evolving or breaking down over time, our dogs are always present, always with us, every time we need them. They don’t cancel plans or move away. Their presence is always consistent which makes them a reliable source of stability that many people lack in their lives.
Encourage us to get out
Dogs require daily routines and exercise, which pushes us to get out more. Sometimes even when we feel so sad or disconnected from the world that we just want to stay on the couch. Our dogs know what’s best for us and they need the exercise too. Getting out with your dog in nature is the very best way to strengthen our bond with our dogs and make them feel indispensable.
A deep, wordless connection
Dogs and their people share such a bond they don’t require words. Their unspoken connection of pure energy can sometimes feel much deeper than those connections with human relationships where we rely so heavily on verbal communication, when we communicate with humans we often forget to pay attention to their energy or what people are actually saying with their bodies!
Dogs make every-day moments more special
When you lose a dog, I don’t know about you, but I find it incredibly difficult to really enjoy a walk - because I walk with my dog. No-one greets me at the door like my dogs. Their excitement over the smallest things brings happiness and joy to me in a way few people can replicate.
Making our lives whole
For many of us who have experienced trauma, loss or break downs in human relationships, dogs can help to fill an emotional void. They provide a sense of love, belonging and purpose that might be missing in other areas of our lives.
Don’t get me wrong, my family and friends are irreplaceable, but like any of you who have read this far - the connection and unique relationship I share with my dogs is always deeply emotional, consistent and fulfilling. That’s why for many of us, when we lose a dog, it really can be more difficult than losing a human. They’ve shared more with us than most humans. Especially so if you live alone!
